SIU Community Guidelines & Safety

Last updated: September 2026

SIU is built to help people connect with people, products and places. We want SIU to be useful, straightforward and safe. These guidelines explain the behaviour we expect from everyone using the platform.

Be Honest

Listings and requests should accurately represent what you are offering or looking for. Do not:

  • Misrepresent an item’s condition
  • Use misleading photos
  • Hide important defects
  • Claim something is genuine when it is not
  • Misrepresent a service, price or qualification
  • Create fake listings

No Scams or Fraud

Do not use SIU to deceive other users or obtain money, goods or services through dishonest means. Be cautious if someone:

  • Pressures you to pay immediately
  • Offers an unusually good deal
  • Refuses reasonable verification
  • Asks you to send money before you have verified the arrangement
  • Attempts to move a transaction into suspicious payment methods or schemes

No Illegal or Prohibited Goods

Do not list illegal, stolen, counterfeit, dangerous or otherwise prohibited goods or services. If you are unsure whether something is permitted, do not list it until you have confirmed that it is lawful.

Treat People With Respect

Harassment, threats, intimidation, hate, sexual harassment and abusive behaviour are not acceptable.

Do not repeatedly contact someone who has made it clear they do not want further contact.

Do not create another account or use another route to contact someone who has blocked you.

Keep Personal Information Safe

Only share personal information when you are comfortable doing so. Remember that information you put into a public listing or profile may be visible to other users. Do not publish another person’s private information without their permission.

Meet Safely

When meeting someone from SIU:

  • Consider meeting during daylight
  • Use a public location
  • Tell someone where you are going
  • Inspect goods before paying
  • Avoid carrying unnecessary amounts of cash
  • Use trusted delivery services where appropriate

If a situation feels unsafe, leave and report the user to SIU.

Services

Before hiring a service provider:

  • Check what is included
  • Confirm the price
  • Ask relevant questions about experience or qualifications
  • Agree the timing and location
  • Make sure you understand the arrangement before paying

SIU does not guarantee the quality or outcome of services offered by users.

Report Problems

If you encounter a scam, suspicious listing, abusive behaviour or other serious problem, use SIU’s reporting tools. Reports help us investigate problems and protect the community. Where appropriate, you can also block the user. If you believe you have been defrauded or a crime has occurred, consider contacting the relevant authorities.

Blocking

Blocking is available to help users control unwanted interactions. A blocked user may be unable to message or send enquiries to the person who blocked them. Do not attempt to bypass a block.

SIU’s Role

SIU is a platform that connects users. We do not inspect or guarantee every product, service, user or listing. Our safety systems are intended to reduce abuse and help users report problems, but no online platform can eliminate every risk. You remain responsible for making sensible decisions when dealing with people through SIU.

Enforcement

When we identify behaviour that violates these guidelines or creates a significant risk to users, SIU may:

  • Remove listings or content
  • Restrict features
  • Suspend accounts
  • Terminate accounts
  • Take other appropriate action

We may also cooperate with lawful requests from relevant authorities. These guidelines work alongside the SIU Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t proceed. Report it, block the user if appropriate, and put your safety first.
